  • Good to know What you ought to know about tariffs, insurance,...
    • Fuel included

      Our fares already include fuel, omnium insurance, breakdown service and VAT.

    • Subject to adjustment

      Fuel prices change frequently. Since cambio travel fares are inclusive of fuel, the price can be adjusted by two cents per kilometre without prior notice. Click on "Tariffs" to find out the current prices.

    • All cars are insured

      All cars are insured with an excess up to maximum € 1,000 per claim. An assistance contract is provided for all cars in case of breakdown or accident.

    • Safety Pack

      The Safety Pack is an additional insurance (not compulsory). The Safety Pack allows you to reduce your insurance excess up to € 200 per claim. A Safety Pack costs € 4 per person per month and there is a one-off cost of 25€. The Safety Pack is renewed automatically every month without prior notice.

    • Financial contribution / usage limit

      Your financial contribution depends on the tariff that you have chosen. This amount is also your usage limit. This limit is not an amount that you have to use monthly. Your usage limit is, however, a maximum amount that cannot be exceeded. The total amount of the outstanding invoices, an estimation of your unprocessed trips and of your reservations in the future are taken into account for this.

    • Online booking

      You can book a cambio car for free via internet or with the cambioApp. You can also call to our reservation centre if you want to book a car (070 233 406). In this case you will have to pay for your phone call.

    • Journeys abroad

      If you are going abroad and will need to refuel, you should fill the tank completely at the start of trip using the cambio fuel card.
      After the initial refuelling, all others will be at your own expense including the last one. In return, you will receive a discounted price per kilometre from cambio.

    • Journeys abroad

      You can also go abroad with the cambio cars. You can refuel - just like in Belgium- with the cambio fuel card. Attention: you always have to mention that you are going abroad when you make your reservation. You can tell this to the employee in the reservation centre if you book a car by phone. Or you indicate this if you book a car via internet. In this way our reservation programm will look for a car that is provided with an assistance contract valid everywhere in Europe.

    • Registration requirements

      To register with cambio, you must possess a drivers' license for at least 2 years or you need to be 25 years and in possession of a drivers' license.
      If you have a license but not for 2 years or you are younger than 25 years you can subscribe in the CAMPUS tariff. It's a tariff with some restrictions.

    • Is carsharing for me?

      Carsharing is the ideal solution for those who don't drive very often.

      - You drive a car sporadically and are looking for an alternative to owning a car?
      - You don't have a car and you don't want to keep asking your friends or family to use their car?
      - You can easily commute using public transport or by biking but sometimes you just need a car for a business transport?
      - You'd rather spend your money on other things than a (second) car?
      - You simply want to be able to use a car without the hassle involved in buying, maintaining and repairing a car?

      If you answered "Yes!" to any of the above, then cambio is certainly a good solution for you. Using cambio can save you a lot of money: fixed costs are minimal and you only pay when you actually use the car. Furthermore, you don't have to worry about additional matters. Maintenance, car wash, insurance ... we take care of it!

    • What is the difference between carsharing and car rental?

      "Short term rental" for members...

      A short summary of the main differences:
      Classic car rental: You need to fill in an order form any time you wish to rent a car. You are restricted by the opening hours of the rental office when it comes to picking up the car.
      Cambio: Filling in an order form once is enough. You receive a chip card which gives you access to our cars, 24/7. No need to wait until opening hours to pick up or drop off your car. Moreover, you can even make a reservation just minutes before picking up the car.
      Classic car rental: The minimum rental duration is always 24 hours and there are only a couple of pickup locations in the city.
      Cambio: The minimum reservation time is one hour. Our cars are spread around the city on reserved parking spots. In larger cities we have a widespread network of cambio stations so you'll always find a cambio car near your home or workplace, within walking or biking distance.
      Classic car rental: Fuel isn't included in the rates and often you'll find the insurance doesn't cover everything. A credit card is necessary for payment.
      Cambio: The following is included in our rates:
      - an omnium insurance with a maximum excess of 1,000 euro
      - fuel
      At the end of the month you receive an invoice with a detailed summary of all your reservations, which you can pay by bank transfer or direct debit.

    • I want to join - what should I do?

      Online using "Join" or request the order form...

    • Do I have to pay for the fuel myself?

      No, fuel is included in the kilometre rate.

      Fuel is included in our kilometre rates. You'll find a fuel card in each of our cars which you can use to refuel in all Total stations, either in Belgium or the rest of Europe.
      Attention: you may only refuel in Total stations.
      In some smaller cities in Flanders and Wallonia you may find a Shell fuel card since Shell is more prominent in those cities. This is the case in Aalst, Diest, Genk, Hasselt, Sint-Niklaas, Turnhout and Gembloux.
      Because fuel prices tend to fluctuate, we have a fuel rate rule. Because of this rule, you'll never pay more than 2 cents more of less per kilometre (in comparison to the kilometre rates in our brochure) when fuel prices change. The tariffs on our website are always the current valid rates.

    • What kind of insurance do the cars have?

      Public liability, omnium insurance, breakdown service: we've thought of everything...

      All cars are covered by an omnium insurance. As a driver, you are covered by a public liability insurance, as well as a breakdown service in case of breakdown or an accident.
      We offer an optional Safety Pack which lowers the standard excess of 1,000 euro to 200 euro. A Safety Pack costs 4 euro per person per month. You pay a one time activation cost of 25 euro for your Safety Pack.

    • Which tariff is best for me?

      It depends on your personal needs...

      Depending on wether you drive often or sporadically, you choose a tariff with higher or lower fixed costs.

      For private customers we offer a Start, Bonus, Comfort and Campus tariff. To help you choose which tariff suits your needs the most, we've created some guidelines. They don't obligate you to a certain use but can be helpful in picking the right tariff for you (e.g. someone who wants to drive using the Start tariff is allowed to do so but will pay more than when using the Bonus tariff).
      Start tariff: for those who don't drive very often: those who drive 1 or 2 times a month and mostly for short distances (less than 50km a month or around 600 km a year).
      Bonus tariff: for those who drive 50 to 200 km a month on average (or 600 to 2.400 km a year).
      Comfort tariff: for those who frequently use a cambio car or often drive large distances (over 200 km a month or 2.400 km a year).
      Campus tariff: for those that aren't 25 years or haven't had there drivers license for at least 2 years.

    • How often and how far can I drive?

      As much as you like... within your cambio usage limit.

      You can drive as much as you like, independently of your chosen tariff.
      But driving with cambio is driving on credit: our systems constantly calculate the total price of your reservations and at the end of the month you receive an invoice.
      This is why we ask you to pay a deposit at the start of your membership. Your cambio usage limit is equal to the amount paid and you cannot go over it.
      The total amount of unpaid invoices and an estimate of your past and future reservations are taken in account for your limit.
      Depending on your chosen tariff, the deposit is higher or lower in amount and so is your usage limit.
      In exchange for the payment of a higher deposit (in Bonus or Comfort), cambio offers you more advantageous rates.

    • Is there always a car available for me?

      We try our best... give it a try!

      Our fleet grows exponantially along with the growing group of cambio users. This way the amount of reservation refusals is always limited.
      In 90% of all reservation requests, we succeed in making a satisfactory offer even though 1/3 of all reservations are made only a couple of hours before departure.
      If you make your reservation a bit earlier, you have freedom of choice.
      Already know you will need a car next month to go to a family gathering or an important appointment? You can make a reservation 270 days in advance so it is possible to make a reservation and be certain a car will be available to you.

    • Can I book a car in another city or region?

      You can make a reservation in every cambio city and with our cambio partners...

      Yes, all cambio cars in every city are available to you. With your personal cambio card and pin code, you have access to every car in Belgium and even in Germany (not with the MoBibcard) (Aachen, Berlin, Bielefeld, Bonn, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Cologne, Oldenburg, Saarbrücken, Uelzen, Winsen and Wuppertal). Reservations can be made online or by phone.

    • Do I have to pay a deposit?

      Yes, the amount depends on the tariff you choose...

      We ask that you pay a deposit of which the amount depends on the tariff you choose. This deposit must be paid when joining cambio. The amount of your deposit also equals your cambio usage limit which you may not exceed.
      This usage limit is not the amount you use monthly but rather a maximum amount that you may not exceed. Unpaid invoices and an estimate of unbilled reservations (even those in the future) are taken into account.

    • How do I book a cambio car?

      By phone, using the cambioApp or using our website... all available 24/7!

      Making a reservation is possible at any time. The call centre, website or cambioApp: they're all available 24/7.
      On our website: log in using your client number and pin code. Choose where and when you would like to reserve a specific type of car.
      By phone: please keep the following information on hand when making a reservation by phone:
      1. the region where you are a member
      2. your client number
      3. your name
      4. the start and end time of your reservation
      5. your preferred cambio station and car type
      If the requested car is available, you will immediately receive confirmation. If we can't (entirely) fulfil your request, several alternatives will be offered to you.
      Using the cambioApp: making a reservation using your app is just as simple and also available at any time. Using the same app you can change your existing reservations, check the way to a cambio station, ...
      Tip: it's always a good idea to reserve an extra hour or two so you never have to worry about being late, even with unexpected circumstances. Any time that is left when you return the car is automatically cancelled and the cancellation rate is applied (only 30% of your time rate). A small price to pay to be more relaxed while driving.
      Attention: the call centre number is a 070 number, which is more expensive than a local number (but it isn't a 0900 number meant for companies to profit off your phone calls). The most important advantage of a 070 number is that our call centre is available to every customer in all of Belgium, using one central number. Even if you wish to make a reservation in another region.
      Using a fixed phone, you pay a maximum of €0,30/minute. Contact your provider for correct rates.

    • Is there always a car available for me?

    • Can I make a last minute reservation?

      Yes, you can!

      Yes, you can make a reservation and immediately take one of our cars.
      It takes our system around 3 minutes to process your reservation. After this time, you can open the car using your cambio card.
      Beware: the later you make your reservation, the bigger the chance we cannot match your request completely and you might have to pick up your car at a cambio station that is a bit further away.

    • How long in advance can I book my car?

      Up to 270 days before your reservation.

      It's always great to know your car is already reserved for your vacation. With cambio, you can book a car up to 270 days before your actual reservation.
      The earlier you make your reservation,the more likely it is that you will get your favourite car at your favourite location for your favourite time of the year.

      However, we know from experience that we might run short of cars if, for instance, you would like to book the perfect estate car for two weeks just a couple of days before the beginning of the summer holidays.

      It might be just as difficult to get a van at short notice for relocation on a weekend just before or after the end of a month.

      In any case, you can be sure that we'll be there to support you!

    • Do I always have to state an end time?

      Yes but this shouldn't mean your journeys should be stressful.

      Make sure to make your reservation long enough: if you bring the car back early, the time that is left is automatically cancelled. This means the extra time is billed at the cancellation rate (30% of the time rate).
      By reserving long enough you avoid having to rush in traffic or having to leave a party early, ...

    • Can I shorten or extend a reservation?

      Of course! But there are some rules to keep in mind...

      Of course you can extend or shorten reservations. Moreover,

      Extending a reservation
      Always phone the call centre before the end of your reservation. There are 2 possibilities:
      a. The car you are driving hasn't been reserved by another member right after your reservation. You can extend your reservation without extra fees.
      b. The car you are driving has been reserved by another member right after your reservation. In this case you may only extend your reservation if you absolutely cannot bring back the car. In this case, we bill you an extra 15 euro, which is credited to the next user as a compensation for his hindrance.

      Shortening a reservation
      In this scenario, there are also 2 possibilities:
      More than 24 hours before the start of your reservation: you can shorten or even cancel your reservation for free.
      Less than 24 hours before the start of your reservation: the cancelled time is billed at the cancellation rate (30% of your normal time rate).

    • How long can a reservation be?

      At least one hour, with a maximum of 30 days ...

      The minimum duration of a reservation is 1 hour. But you can make a reservation for an hour and a half, 2 hours, ... a day, a week or even longer. A reservation always starts and ends either on the hour (e.g. 17h), half hour (e.g. 18h30) or 15 minutes (e.g. 18h45 or 10h15). The maximum allowed duration of a reservation is 30 days.

      In some cases we can make an exception on the 30 days rule, contact the client service for help.

    • What if I don't need a car after all after making a reservation?

      Up until 24 hours before the start of your reservation you can cancel for free ...

      You can cancel your reservation(s) at any time by phone, on our website or using the cambioApp.
      - Until 24 hours before the start of your reservation the cancellation is free.
      - If you cancel less than 24 hours before the start of your reservation, you will pay the cancellation rate (30% of your time rate) for the reserved time.
      If you don't cancel, you pay the regular rate. Always cancel before the start of your reservation... as early as possible.

    • I have to accept a cookie when I log in.

      Cookies are required for our online reservation form.

      I have to accept a 'cookie' when I log in, what is it?
      Cookies are used to identify you during the reservation process. Our software saves these on the hard drive of your computer. Cambio cookies are only temporary which means they are saved on your computer while making a reservation but are deleted when you close your browser. Cookies are required for making reservations online.
      How do I allow these cookies in my browser?
      If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer: select the menu item 'Internet options' and select the tab 'Security'. Select the security zone 'Internet' and click the 'Custom level' button.
      If you choose the option 'Prompt', the browser will ask you wether you want to accept cookies every time you visit the website. If you choose the option 'Enable', your browser will accept the cookies every time without asking.
      Since Internet Explorer version 6.0 you can enter www.cambio.be in 'Per site privacy actions' under 'Internet Options/Security'. If you choose the button 'Allow', your browser will accept cookies from the cambio website without asking, while you will still have to accept cookies on other websites.

    • Can I change my tariff?

      Of course, at the end of each month ...

      Do you need a car less or more often than you had planned? Maybe your transportation needs just changed over time?

      Another tariff might be more advantageous for you. You can change your tariff at the end of each month. The first tariff change is free once a year; this ensures you can give our system a try and if you happen to notice you might not have chosen the best tariff, there is no penalty to choose a more advantageous tariff. From the second change on in the same year, an administration fee of 15 euro is billed. You can request a tariff recommendation an change via mycambio or by contacting our client services.

    • What do I need to join?

      A valid driving license or be over 25 years of age with a valid driving license (even if you've had your driving licence for less than 2 years).

      Everyone who wants to drive a cambio car must either have valid driving license in Belgium for over 2 years or must be over the age of 25. You will need to send a copy of your driving license along with your order form (please don't forget the copy (front and back) of identity document).

      We make an exceptation in the CAMPUS tariff. You only need a drivers' license. There are no limits of age. There are some restrictions in the use of the cars.

    • How often and how far can I drive?

    • Can I allow another person to drive on my account?

      Sure - just get a cambio partner card ...

      You can allow as many persons to drive on your account as you want. Each authorised person will get their own chip card.

      As the person who has signed the contract with cambio, you are liable for the full extent of all costs and possible damages which may occur when your additional authorised drivers are in charge of the cambio vehicle.

      Please note: as the person who has signed the contract you need to sign the form down to the left, confirming that the respective person is authorised to book a car with your customer number and to drive it on your account. Or you just login to the customer area of this website and register your partner online.

    • I want to become a member - what do I have to do?

      Register online at Join or go for the classic way...

      The fastest way to join is to register online at Join. The contract will be valid after signing it and sending it to the cambio office together with a copy of your drivers' license and both sides of your ID card.
      We will send you the cambio chipcard by mail (in Flanders and Wallonia) or you can collect your card at the office (Brussels).


      If you prefer the classic "paper-based" way:
      Download the "the orderform cambioCard" for "your region" under Downloads), fill in the form and send it back to us. Also together with a copy of the necessary documents



      After you send us the orderform we need to explain the system to you. You can do this at home by clicking on the link to an infosession we will give you. This is a 5 minute film that explains the system. Afterwards we ask you a few questions so we can be sure you understand how to book, open and drive a cambio car. If you prefer we can explain all this to you in our offices. Contact the client service for more details and dates.

    • How do I pay for the trips I've made?

      By domiciliation or by transfer and after receipt of your invoice ...

      We will send you a detailed invoice, showing each single trip and indicating the driver, the car, the rental period and the mileage driven. Depending on how often you use a car, invoices may be sent less frequently.

      Corporate customers please note: naturally the VAT will be displayed separately on your invoice. Hence, you can claim back the VAT for your entire car costs.

      About eight days after receipt of your invoice, the sum will be debited from your bank account. This allows you plenty of time to contact your local cambio office with any queries you may have. If you choose to pay by domiciliation you receive a monthly reduction of 1€.

      Paying by transfer is also possible, but you will not get a reduction.

    • Do I have to pay a deposit?

      Yes, it is called a "financial contribution"

      Depending on wich tariff you choose, the deposit differs.
      In the START and CAMPUS tariff the minimum deposit is 150€. You are free to increase it.
      In the BONUS and COMFORT tariff the minimum deposit is 500€.

      The deposit equals your usage limit.

    • How soon can I get started?

      Within five working days; or possibly even sooner ...

      The fastest way to join is to register online at Join. The contract will be valid after signing it and sending it to the cambio office together with a copy of your drivers' license and ID card (both sides).
      We will send you the cambio chipcard by mail (in Flanders and Wallonia) or you can collect your card at the office (Brussels).

    • Is CarSharing different from car rental?

      Yes, there are crucial differences. Here are the most important ones:

      Car rental: you have to fill in contract forms before each trip. The car has to be collected and returned within the office's opening hours.
      CarSharing: after initial registration you have easy access to all vehicles using your personal chip card. You can access the vehicle at any time of the day or night, regardless of the opening times. You can even reserve your vehicle minutes before you are due to commence your journey.

      Car rental: the minimum rental period is 24 hours and there are only a few rental locations in each city.
      CarSharing: you can book your car for a minimum of one hour. Numerous car locations with reserved parking bays are availlable all over your city.

      Car rental: the basic rental conditions include neither damage excess reduction nor fuel. Payment is by credit card.
      CarSharing: the standard prices are already inclusive of ...

      Each month, you will receive an invoice showing a clear list of all trips you've made. Payment is simply deducted from your bank account by direct debit.

  • Driving Where can I find the car keys? Do I have to take fuel every time I drive? Can I use cars in an other city?...
    • When can I pick up my car?

      Any time you like ...

      All cambio cars are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

      You can pick up your reserved car from its parking space at any time of day (or night) regardless of the opening hours of your local cambio office.

    • Do I have to pick up my car on the dot?

      You can - but you don't have to ...

      No. Within your booking period the car remains reserved exclusively for you.

      By the way: If you realise that you won't need the reserved car as early as you thought, or perhaps not at all, you can easily shorten your booking period or even cancel the entire reservation. Give us a call and you'll save 70% of the time costs. Please note however that it is not possible to shorten or cancel a booking period retroactively.

    • How do I get my car key?

      By using your cambioCard ...

      Together with your PIN, the cambio-card or MoBIB-card gives you access to all our vehicles. You will find the car key in the onboard computer in the car, in the glove box.

      Open the doors of the car
      - You will find a cardreader in the corner of the windscreen.
      - A small red light will glow in the reader field of the windscreen.
      - Hold your cambio-card in front of the reader for a few seconds until the small yellow light starts to glow.
      - Finally, the green light appears and the computer unlocks the car's central locking system.
      - Type in your PIN on the key pad of the onboard computer usually inside the glove box.
      - Answer the question if you have discovered new damage on the car.
      - Then you can remove the car key from its slot and start the car.

    • Can I start straight away?

      Yes - but please check the car for damage first ...

      You can start your trip (almost) immediately. But first you are obliged to check whether the car has any new visible damages.

      If you see a saddy (a smiley with a sad face) near the damage, you do not have to do anything. Cambio knows about this damage.
      However should you spot something, please have a look at the damage list in the onboard book first. This is usually located in the glove box. There is a list with all registered damages.
      - If the damage is already mentionned on the list, you can start straight away.
      - If the damage is not registered on the damage list, please call our reservation service and describe the damage. Our reservation service staff will decide upon whether you can still use this car despite the damage or if your booking needs to be changed.

    • Do I need to refuel the car each time I use it?

      No, but the tank should be 1/4 full when you return it ...

      No, you don't have to refill the tank each time you use a car.

      Just make sure the vehicle contains at least one quarter of a tank when you return it. This means that every customer knows they can drive at least 100 km without having to refuel.
      You will find a fuel card in every car. Please take fuel in the fuelstations that are concerned. In most of the cities that is TOTAL, but there are some smaller cities in Flanders and Wallonia where you will find a Shell card.
      If the card doesn't work for some reason, you will need to notify this to the call center. You can fill the tank on your own charge but for max. 20€ and the call center needs to give you permission to do this. If you have refilled by yourself please submit the orginal bill to your cambio office, the amount will be credited with the next bill.

    • What about insurance?

      Fully comprehensive insurance and breakdown cover ...

      All vehicles are equipped with a breakdown service. In case of an accident, the damage is covered by an insurance. Normally, your damage excess is limited to 1,000 euros per claim.

    • Do I have to clean the car?

      Please take away your rubbish at the end of the trip ...

      Our fleet staff cleans and vacuums the cars during the regular vehicle checks. So normally you won't have to take care of the cleaning.

      However, if your children just ate some cookies and left crumbs on the back seat or if you used a vehicle car to carry soiled goods, we expect you to clean the vehicle for the next user. Please respect cambio's golden CarSharing rule: everyone is responsible for removing their own "visible residue" (also see our section: Can I take my pet in the car?).

      On the other hand, if the car you've booked is already messy before your trip, please don't hesitate to call our reservation service. We will take care of it as soon as possible. If the car is in an unacceptable state and you would prefer not to use it, just call us and book another car. In some cases, you will receive compensation for the inconvenience.

    • How much do I have to pay in case of an accident?

      Nothing if wasn't your fault! Otherwise between €200
      and €1,000 depending on a few factors ...

      In case of an accident, the damage is covered by an insurance. Normally, your damage excess is limited to 1,000 euros per claim.

    • What if the car isn't clean before I start?

      Book another car or use a car wash at our expense ...

      Inside cleaning: if you discover that the car is dirty or messy, please call our reservation service immediately, i.e. before commencing your journey. If you wish, we will book another car for you straight away. This way you can help us to keep the cars clean and remind the irresponsible user to be more thoughtful next time.

      Outside cleaning: sometimes it's just a matter of a few hours before dust or rain makes the car dirty again. We give you a choice if you feel the car is not clean enough: you can either use a car wash (at our expense of course) or book another car.

    • Can I let someone else drive?

      Yes, as long as you remain in the car and ...

      As long as you remain in the car, you can allow someone else to drive - provided that:

      1. this person has had a full driving license valid in Belgium. The person must also have the license with them on the journey
      2. you have personally made sure that the person is in a fit state to drive

      Otherwise you are not entitled to permit anyone else to drive a cambio vehicle. The only exception is when the person is registered as an authorised driver with cambio and has a PartnerCard. In such a case, the person can call our reservation service to "take over" the trip.

    • Is smoking allowed in cambio cars?

      No! All cambio cars are "No Smoking Areas" ...

      Not only all non-smokers but also the majority of smokers prefer to have a smoke-free car.

      That is why smoking is strictly prohibited.

      Report your complaint. Please call our reservation service if you feel that someone has not taken this point seriously and has in fact smoked in the car.

    • Do I have to pay for fuel myself

      No, we take care of that ...

      The fuel costs are already included in our travel fees. In each car you will find a fuel card which you can use at numerous appointed filling stations all over Belgium and Europe.

      However, if you need to refuel at a different filling station or the cambio fuel card doesn't work, you will need to pay for it yourself. You need to receive the permission from the call center before doing so. We set a max. of 20€ of refuel on your own charge. Then forward the receipt to us, indicating your name, your customer number and the name of the car. The amount will be deducted from your next invoice.

      Please note that our travel fees are subject to change. This means that the price per kilometre on your invoice might differ by a maximum of two cents more or less, depending on current fuel price fluctuations.

    • Can I take my pet in the car?

      Remember that some users are allergic to pet hairs ...

      Please avoid carrying pets in the car!

      If, for some reason, you absolutely need to take your furry friend with you, make sure you are using appropriate transport baskets and that these are stored in the boot of the car. Front or back-seats are no-go areas for all pets! Remember to clean and vacuum the boot thoroughly at the end of your trip.

      Please note: An extra cleaning charge of 30 euros per working hour will apply if we need to clean the car!

    • Can I drive abroad with cambio?

      Not all countries are covered by our insurance ...

      Yes you can, but....

      If you want to go abroad you need to mention this when making a reservation. You can say so to the cambio employee or you thick the "abroad box" online.
      When you haven't told us you were going abroad and somethings happens (an accident or damage) you will be responsible for reparing or repatriating the car.
      Furthermore cambio does an extra check up of the car if you warn us you will be leaving abroad for a long period.

      Taking fuel abroad: do so with the cambio fuel card. You will find Total and Shell gas stations.

      You can drive to the following countries without any further requirements: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estland, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, iceland, Ireland, Iran, Israel, Italy, Letland, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Morocco, Moldavia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the Vatican.

    • What happens if I'm late?

      Call our call centre BEFORE your reservation expires...

      Please remember to always call our reservation service BEFORE your booking period expires. Then you will have two options:

      a. If there is no reservation for the car just after yours, you can extend your reservation without any extra charges. Your fee will be charged on the basis of the regular time fares.

      b. If another customer has already booked the car
      , you can also extend your reservation but, in addition to the regular time fares, we will charge you a supplement of 15 euros for each affected booking.

      If you do not call us BEFORE the end of your reservation, we will charge you a fine.

      TIP: Make your reservation large so you do not need to worry about being back in time. If you come back earlier, the rest of the reserved time will be automatically cancelled and you will only pay 30% of the hour rate.

    • What if the car I've booked is not available?

      Call us - we will book another car for you ...

      Please call our call center. In most cases we can directly book another car for you.
      Our statistics show that, only 0.25% of all trips cannot happen for some reason or another - we are working on ways of reducing this even more.

    • What if the parking spot is occupied when I return?

      Look for a correct parking space and call us ...

      You forgot to secure the parking spot by lifting the parking barrier when you left and now someone else parked his car there?
      Please look for a common parking space nearby. Buy and display a ticket if necessary and call our reservation service to tell us the exact position of the car.
      Our staff will get in touch with the next user of the car to let him know where he can find the car.

    • Can I return the car to a different location?

      No, you always need to return the car to the same location where you picked it up.

      With cambio you always need to return the car to the same location where you picked it up. You cannot return it to a different location - neither in another cambio city nor in another town. Consider the cambio car as being your own car. You also bring back your car to the starting point.

    • What documents are in the car?

      Driver reports, fuel card, onboard book, registration ...

      The onboard book contains
      - the list of registered damages known by cambio,
      - special instructions for this specific car type
      - special instructions about parking in the city
      - what to do in case of a breakdown or an accident
      - the vehicle registration certificate
      - the green insurance cover document
      - a customer handbook

      In most cars, you can find the logbook in the glove box or in the front passenger's door compartment.

      And of course the manufacturer's instruction manual (usually in the glove box).

    • What do I do if the car breaks down?

      Breakdown information is inside the logbook ...

      It's good to know that all cambio cars have full breakdown cover.
      Inside the cambio onboard book you will find all necessary information, including the phone number of a 24/7 emergency hotline. Please do not leave the scene until you know exactly how to proceed.
      Remember to always call our reservation service too. You will get additional support and our staff will be able to notify the next user of the car if necessary.

    • What happens in the case of an accident?

      Stay calm, call the police and our reservation service ...

      First of all, please try to stay calm. You will find all necessary information inside the cambio onboard book.
      1. Secure the scene of the accident. If necessary, seek assistance and always call the police. Never sign any paperwork admitting that you caused the accident.
      2. Call our reservation service as soon as you can. Our staff will support you and register the necessary data regarding the accident. They will also decide on how to proceed with the car.
      3. Hand over the cambio contact details sheet to the other party involved. You will find it inside the onboard book.
      4. In some cases the police will give you a copy of the accident report. Please hand it over to the cambio office together with the completed European Accident Report which you will also find in the cambio onboard book too.

      Please note: remember to always call the police - also in the case of so-called minor loss (such as hit and run parking damages). If possible, collect contact details from witnesses at the scene.

      Cambio will take care of all further proceedings.

    • What if I lose my cambio-card?

      Call our reservation service straight away ...

      Please call our reservation immediately. We will cancel your cambio-card immediately.

      Afterwards, your cambio office will get in touch and advise you how to proceed.

    • What if I forget my PIN?

      Please call your local cambio office ...

      During office hours the client office can help you giving you your pincode.

    • Can I drive cambio cars from other cities too?

      Of course, you can!

      You can use all cambio cars in every cambio city.
      Cambio-cars in Germany are also available for you.

    • Are the prices in Germany the same as in Belgium?

      Not entirely, since VAT and car costs differ ...

      Both VAT and car costs are lower in Germany. That is why the tariffs there are about 10% lower than in Belgium.
      Belgian cambio-customers can use cars from cambio Germany on the basis of the Belgian "Aktiv Tariff".

    • I don't need cambio any longer - what can I do?

      Submit a written notice or let us know via Mycambio

      Your personal circumstances may change. If you decide that you don't need our service any longer, we hope that you were satisfied with it.

      Please resign by sending us a written notice by post or by e-mail. You can also terminate your contract in the customer area of our website.
      The contract can be terminated with effect from the end of each month and we need to receive the notice at least two weeks in advance.

      Of course, you can still drive a cambio car until the last day of your contract. We will send you a final invoice where we pay back your deposit.

    • What about the final invoice?

      Issued about two weeks after your termination date ...

      You will receive your final invoice on or around the tenth of the following month.

      Eight days after the invoice date, the final amount will be deducted from your bank account by direct debit. After this, your direct debit authorisation will expire automatically.

      Should you have paid a deposit, we will set off your last trips and fees against it and credit the balance to your bank account.
