Taxistop has been operating in Belgium since 1975 on the pretext of "more with less". Taxistop's purpose is to realize projects that make better use of the available resources (such as a car)... Several services were started over the years. Carsharing is one of them.
VAB, the largest Flemish automobile association, is structural partner and shareholder within cambio. The VAB call center also enables cambio customers to book cars during the evening and in weekends and they can contact cambio 24 hours, 7 days a week in case of possible problems.
Because of the complementarity between carsharing and public transport the NMBS holding (Belgian railways) decided to join the cambio project. The NMBS holding became shareholder of cambio Belgium on 9th December 2009. The NMBS holding is not only shareholder, but also offers parking places for cambio users at car parks of many large railway stations in Belgium. In this way cambio can be certain of new expansion options.
Just because of the complementarity between carsharing and public transport, De Lijn (public transport operator in Flanders) decided to join the cambio project in Flanders. De Lijn is structural partner and shareholder within cambio Flanders.
Just because of the complementarity between carsharing and public transport, the MIVB/STIB (public transport operator in Brussels) decided to join the cambio project in Brussels. MIVB/STIB is shareholder of cambio Brussels and fully participates in the promotion and expansion of this successful concept.
As soon as cambio was started, TEC and cambio have cooperated. For instance, cambio has its own office window in the "Maison du TEC", the TEC information centre in Namur. Furthermore, TEC and cambio cooperate for communication and promotion.
